Pictor’s technology is based on PictArray™ which is a multiplexed ELISA platform where multiple analytes within a test panel can be tested simultaneously within the same well

ToRCH, ENA and HAE are a form of indirect Elisa

A minimum of 5 µl of fresh serum is required. This serum is diluted according to the kit being used and a final volume of 50 µl of diluted serum is added to the PictArray™ wells.

The Test result for patient samples are reported as Internal Units/ ml (IU/mL) defined as the increase in antibody binding to antigens compared to healthy subjects. For Example, a value of 10 IU/mL is 10 fold increase in antibody levels compared to non diseased samples.

No. It is a Semi Quantitative Assay.

Different assay formats will give different results in units, but qualitatively the results should be consistent

No. Values are comparative with that of normal healthy population

None of the well will show color spot for test parameters. 1st and/or 2nd dots in 5th row in a well will not show any color. One can see Detection control spot (1st dot in 1st column and 5th dot in 5th column), serum control (3rd dot in 1st column).

For ToRCH IgG, only Conjugate G/M Addition control should appear (First spot in fifth row). For ToRCH IgM, Conjugate G/M Addition control (First spot in fifth row) and Conjugate M Addition control (Second spot in fifth row) should appear.

If serum sample was added, the Sample Addition control (First spot in thrid row) should appear

Expiry is generally 13 months. Please see the kits for the month and year.

The kit can be used until the expiry date provided it has been stored correctly

The PictArrayTM ELISA Kits are available in 1 Slide (16 well) and 3 slide (48 well) Kits

Reading the slide and obtaining analysis report takes approximately 2 minutes

Yes. The software allows you to select which tests you want reported so this can be for an individual parameter for the full panel.

Pictorial uses proprietary algorithms to translate signal intensity of test spots to semi quantitative results

Results are provided in a Test Report. The format of the report includes:

  1. The patients details
  2. A table showing Test Names, parameters Values (IU/mL) and interpretation
  3. A Graphical representation of each selected parameter

Note: Test results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical evaluation and results of other diagnostic procedures.

  • Ensure that the PictImager is powered on and the red indicator is lit
  • Press PictImager again as the camera requires a short time to start up
  • Ensure that the camera is not being used in any other Windows application, e.g. any other web cam software
  • Remove or disable any no other webcams/cameras connected to the computer
  • Ensure that PictImager driver is installed
  • Power PictImager using a different USB port
  • Uninstall Microsoft Lifecam software
  • Connect PictImager to Computer and turn ON
  • Go to Control Panel/Device Manager/Imaging Devices/Right click Microsoft Lifecam/Properties/Driver
  • Click Roll Back Driver button
  • Continue to Roll Back Driver until driver’s year is 2006
  • If Roll Back Driver button is disabled, uninstall it first
  • Turn PictImager ON/OFF and Restart Pictorial
  • Close any other application that might be using a webcam
  • Check if the Red LED indicator on the top of the PictImager is lit
  • Open the front door of the PictImager and check if the two white LED lights are on
  • Calibration slide image does not meet requirements (defect on the slide, slide is too old etc.)
  • Camera capturing malfunction
  • Poor connection between the PictImager and PC
  • Ensure the alignment spots on each of your wells are visually detectable
  • Ensure that your modules are positioned starting from Position A (First position)
  • Ensure the numbers and positions of modules match the sample layout entered in the Sample Layout Editor within Pictorial
  • To run NanoScan PC, architecture must be 32 bit
  • Download and install the package “Microsoft Visual c++ 2010 x86 Re-distributable”
  • Close Pictorial and Restart the PC

Close Pictorial and Restart the PC

  • Correct Grid manually and run again.
  • Retest samples after referring to your PictArray Instruction Manual for sample testing protocol.
  • Ensure there is no residual liquid left in the wells and the wells are completely dry (Membrane should have a matte finish)
  • Increase drying time if required
  • Ensure the Detection Control spots (First spot of row 1 and fifth spot of row 5) are visible
  • Ensure no other pdfs with the same name open simultaneously
